Simple oat bread

This bread is delicious as it is or you could also add dried fruit like raisins or cranberries for a sweeter taste.

Ingredients

  • 350g porridge oats
  • 500ml natural yoghurt
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 teaspoons bread soda (sodium bicarbonate)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F / Gas Mark 4.
  2. Place the yoghurt and egg in a bowl and mix well.
  3. Add the oats and bread soda to the yoghurt mixture and stir well.
  4. Place the mixture (it should be wet, but not a liquid) in a greased or parchment lined loaf tin. Bake for 25 minutes with tin foil on top, until the end of baking.
  5. Bake for 60-70 minutes in total, checking with a skewer / sharp knife that it comes out clean.
