Accessibility
safefood is committed to making its website(s) accessible, in accordance with European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020.
This accessibility statement applies to content published on www.safefood.net.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 level AA, due to the non-accessible content listed below.
Non-accessible content
Should you wish to contact us regarding accessibility please see the feedback and contact information section below. We will do our best to ensure that any content you are requesting is made available and accessible. We are working to improve the accessibility compliance of our websites and will endeavour to apply all accessibility standards to content being published to our website going forward.
Parts of safefood’s website are not fully accessible. For example:
- Tables: Some tables in publications are not accessible.
- PDFs: Some documents in PDF format are not fully accessible and may in some instances lack bookmarks and alt text for images
- PDFs: some contents in research reports, such as tables, images or graphs produced as part of the research may not be fully accessible
- Images: Most images have alt text but a small number do not.
- Video: Most recordings of events do not have associated transcripts.
This is not an exhaustive list of non-accessible content and we will work through these and other issues to address them.
safefood is undertaking several tasks to improve the accessibility of its website:
- Staff are reviewing and improving the accessibility of all PDFs on an ongoing basis
- safefood has commissioned a web development company with previous experience of creating accessible websites to carry out accessibility work on previously published PDFs that fall under the new regulations.
- Templates for reports produced in-house have been amended to reflect the requirements.
Exempted content
Content published prior to 23 September 2018 is exempt under the EU Web Accessibility Directive. safefood considers that the estimated cost and effort required to make PDFs of reports published prior to September 2018 compliant with WCAG2.1/EN 301 549 is not currently feasible to undertake. However, safefood is committed to ensuring all our content is as accessible as possible. Please contact us if there is any inaccessible content that was published to our site prior to September 2018 that you wish to receive in accessible format and we will make every effort to provide it.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
